Delta Institute and our community partners performed a BioBlitz, an on-the-ground assessment of existing flora and fauna on specific parcels of land, to create a baseline of biodiversity on four parcels within the West Woodlawn Sustainable Square Mile. This baseline data is the first step in accomplishing this project’s primary objectives:
1. Create a database of critical data measuring the impact of nature-based GI on the following indicators: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Quality; Stormwater and Flooding Mitigation; and Community Health Outcomes.
2. Provide recommendations for the implementation, assessment, evaluation, and monitoring of nature-based GI in the Chicago region.
